Gallery 905 is opening its doors Thursday night for a special showing of “myblueSelma.”
The show will feature cyanotypes by A.C. Reeves that have been taken and processed in Selma.
“Cyanotype is my new love. It’s such a fun process. You have to use the sun, you have to use water, you don’t ever know how it’s going to turn out,” Reeves said. “It’s really a cool process.”
Through her love of Selma and her new passion for cyanotypes, Reeves decided to dive head first into the art and is now showing it off to the public.
Reeves said that she is excited to show off her work at Gallery 905 and get the community to come out and see her work and visit the gallery, which opened approximately a year ago.
“I’m excited. I love this space; I love Gallery 905,” Reeves said. “I want to support them; I want to see Gallery 905 having shows at least quarterly, if not more often. It brings them money, it supports ArtsRevive.”
Kristen Jones, assistant manager at Gallery 905, said art is an important part of the community, and she is happy that Reeves is having her show at the gallery.
“I think it’s great when anyone tries new types of art and just brings new things to the table,” Jones said. “Art is the heartbeat of all of us as a community, and it all speaks to us in different ways.”
The show opening will be at Gallery 905 from 5:30-7 p.m., and Reeves’ work will be on display and for sale throughout the week.
“This is through my eyes of what I see of our community,” Reeves said. “It’s just a gorgeous, wonderful, beautiful place.”
