Valley Grande extends baseball registration

Last weekend’s severe weather impacted Valley Grande’s baseball and softball registration, so the city has extended it.

Cody Massey, Valley Grande’s Sports Coordinator, said registration will continue Friday, Jan. 27 at Valley Grande City Hall from 5-7 p.m.

Massey said he received a lot of calls from people who asked if there’d be another registration held due to the weather.

“I had some calls from people asking about late registration because they weren’t able to get out and about because the rain,” Massey said.

All ages are still welcome to register Friday, but Massey said the city is specifically looking for children T-ball age up to 10-years-old. He said he expects to hold another registration day for older children once middle and high school baseball season begins to wind down.

The price is $40 for T-ball, which is for children 4-6, and $50 for baseball and softball, which are for children 7-18.

Children must turn four by May 1, 2017 to be eligible for T-ball.

The price to participate covers the cost of uniform, pants, jersey, hat, socks and belt. The child will need to be present to register, so that he can be measured for his uniform.

Players will also need a copy of their birth certificate and insurance card to register.
