Roundup: Selma loses coin flip for area tourney

The Selma boys basketball team will be the No. 3 seed in the class 6A, area 5 tournament after losing a coin flip that decided the top three seeds.
Selma, Stanhope Elmore and Chilton County all tied for first in three-team area 5, so a coin flip decided all three spots.
Stanhope Elmore won the coin flip and will host the tournament and will receive a bye in the first round. Selma and Chilton County will play Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. for the right to play Stanhope.
Selma 47, Carver 36 (Girls)
Kynadra Lewis scored 16 points and Aaliyah Hatcher chipped in 12 as Selma (24-1) topped Carver 47-36 on Tuesday. Tasharri Grimes also had 11 points for the Saints.
Carver 53, Selma 41 (Boys)
The Selma boys (13-10) lost at Carver 53-41 Tuesday night. Jerryone Patterson led the Saints in scoring with 11 points and Jeffery Huff Jr. joined him in double figures with 10.
Selma 55, Francis Marion 36 (Girls)
Areyana Williams scored 16 points as Selma topped Francis Marion 55-36 Saturday.
Jacquetta Dailey had 13 points, Jamya Smith 11 and Kynadra Lewis 9 in the win.
Selma 57, Francis Marion 52 (Boys)
Jeffery Huff Jr. scored 20 points and Tommie Moore had 13 points and 12 rebounds as Selma topped Francis Marion 57-52 on Saturday.
Wallace 96, Enterprise 81 (Men)
The Wallace Community College Selma men’s basketball team topped Enterprise State 96-81 on Monday. LaByron Harris scored 27 points to lead five Patriots in double figures. Zavieun Jackson scored 15 points and brought down 10 rebounds for the Patriots.
