Concordia College Alabama held an open house Saturday to invite students from all over the Southeast to check out the college and what it has to offer.
“This is a good experience for the kids to come and get good exposure to Concordia College Alabama,” said Norman Richards, director of recruitment at Concordia.
Richards said there were more than 120 students from Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida and Alabama that were in attendance to tour the school and see what it has to offer.
“It’s always awesome to see new faces on the campus, so this is a very joyous time for us here at Concordia,” Richards said.
The students first met with different people on campus to hear about the different majors and courses offered, and then took a tour of campus before making their way to the homecoming basketball game against Selma University where the women’s and men’s teams took home the victory.
Fred Davis, a senior from Arkansas, said he was excited to see the Concordia campus.
“Something that drew me to Concordia is the fields of study that they have to offer. They have a lot of good fields,” Davis said. “Their science program sounds like it has a lot to offer.”
Davis said he like the campus and he believes Concordia might be the school for him.
“I’m hoping to gain … a place in August that I can say is my campus. In the way Concordia is presenting itself, this probably is where I want to be,” Davis said.
Kerynicka English, from Mobile, was also there to check out the college.
“I like the nursing program that they have here and I like the new opportunity,” English said. “I just can’t wait to come here in the fall. This is my school.”
