SABRA Sanctuary will hold its annual auction fundraiser Thursday night at the George P. Evans Reception Hall.
SABRA is a nonprofit that supports the victims of domestic violence and serves six counties, including Dallas County. Thursday night’s auction is named “SABRA Sanctuary Auction — unmasking domestic violence.”
The event will start at 6 p.m. with social hour and dinner will follow at 7 p.m. An auction and silent auction will take place simultaneously starting at 7:30 p.m.
“It’s a time for us to come together and try to celebrate the work that has been done in the community and in the counties we serve to try to bring awareness to domestic violence,” said Mae Mae Jackson, who is the chairman of SABRA’s board.
The auction is SABRA’s largest fundraiser and will include a Rototiller donated by Bush Hog. Jackson said the tiller is valued at over $3,000, and it’s the largest item that will be available Thursday.
A Canada fishing trip, beach vacation, trip to the mountains and a deer and turkey hunt will also be available.
“We have some really great items that have been donated through the community, from really small things to really large things — from things men enjoy to things women enjoy to children’s items,” Jackson said. “
Jackson said there are still limited tickets available. She said anyone who wants to attend should plan to buy a ticket at the door for $25 apiece.
“I don’t think we are going to turn a soul away,” she said. “We will make room as best that we can.”
