The 15th annual ArtsRevive Art Show is showing off artists that live in Alabama or have an Alabama connection.
The show, “Alabama Artists: Roots and Wings,” has more than 30 artists with around 180 pieces.
“The only people that could enter the show were people that are living in Alabama or have connections from Alabama,” said Cindy Stoudenmire, chair of the art show. “It’s amazing how much good art there is out there in Alabama.”
The show will take place at Charlie “TinMan” Lucas’s studio, where much of his work will also be on display.
“Once we get the art up and get the lighting up, it transforms the whole thing. It’s amazing,” Stoudenmire said. “You step in here, the lights are on, the people are here, and the atmosphere is incredible.”
Stoudenmire said the show has numerous amounts of work in multiple categories that vary from piece to piece, giving visitors plenty to look at.
“We have something that will interest everybody. It’s a very eclectic show,” she said. “There’s something for everybody’s taste. There’s some wonderful artists here.”
Some of the categories are works on paper, mixed media, three dimensional and photography.
Judges will vote on three winners in each category and a best of show.
The best of show went to Nataki Alexander last year.
There will also people a people’s choice award voted on the night of the opening reception, which Stoudenmire said is her favorite part of the night.
“The art show itself is fun,” she said. “It gives all of the artist’s exposure.”
The opening reception will be held at Lucas’s place, located at 9 Lauderdale Street, from 7-9 p.m. The reception is for ArtsRevive members only, but memberships are available at the door for $25 for individuals. The show is open to the public Fridays and Saturdays throughout April from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
