Meetings are chances to find out latest on city

Selma Mayor Darrio Melton is giving citizens a chance to meet with him and discuss their concerns in a small setting.
Melton will hold Mondays with the Mayor as a time for people to discuss the latest projects the city is working on and to hear their opinions on how things are operating, including what can be done better.
The first meeting will take place April 3 at the Selma-Dallas County Public Library from 10-11 a.m. and will be a town hall setting with question and answer sessions. Melton has also recently used Facebook Live to allow people to ask questions.
Melton said it’s important for people to feel like they have access to the mayor’s office, and we couldn’t agree more. After all, he was elected by the citizens of Selma and works for them, so it’s important that he takes in as much feedback as he can.
Any time a public official wants to be more transparent about how things are operating, that’s a positive.
The meetings will take place on the first Monday of every month.
