Selma University baseball coach Adrian Holloway has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association’s South Sectional Coach of the Year.
Holloway led Selma University to its seventh consecutive NCCAA national championship tournament and won his first coach of the year award in the process.
“It was kind of a surprise, but at the same time we work hard,” Holloway said. “It was humbling. It’s a nice honor and something to be proud of.”
The award was announced Tuesday night at the regional meeting.
Selma University is 13-13 on the season and is currently playing in the regional round of the NCCAA National Tournament.
Selma University was set to play Emanuel College on Wednesday afternoon at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia.
“At the start of the year, I thought I was going to pull my hair out,” Holloway said.
“It was crazy and a lot of uncertainty. Not knowing how guys would gel together, how this team would perform together. It was a little chaotic but we worked real hard to put the pieces together, and in the end it kind of came together and worked out.”
