Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night, according to Corporal Jesse Thornton with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Thornton said the crash occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 80 East and Mitchell Young Road, which is in Montgomery County.
Collier and the driver of the other vehicle were both injured and transported to the hospital, according to Thornton.
Selma Mayor Darrio Melton visited Collier in the hospital Monday night and said Collier was”doing okay.”
“We’re just thinking of him and his family right now and hoping for a speedy recovery,” Melton said. “He’s shaken up pretty good, but he’s expected to recover.”
Melton asked people to keep Collier and his family in their thoughts.
“We hope people keep him and family in their thoughts and their prayers,” Melton said. “The chief himself said he is looking forward to getting back on the job.”
