The Blackbelt Benefit Group’s annual Shuck ‘n’ Jive fundraiser is coming up Sept. 16 at the Tally Ho Restaurant.
Oysters will be served in a variety of ways, giving people some options on how they like them for the event.
“I’ve got to get psyched up for it because that’s a lot of oysters to open,” said Tally-Ho owner and BBG member Paul Wilkerson. “They’re all shucked to order.”
The event has been going on for five years now, and BBG member Clay Carmichael said it continues to grow and get better each year.
“It should be pretty fun,” Carmichael said. “Everybody that loves oysters has a blast.”
Wilkerson said besides oysters and talking with friends, there will be live music and they will be showing football games on a 144-inch projector screen.
The University of Alabama will face off against Colorado State at 6 p.m. in Tuscaloosa and Auburn University will play Mercer in Auburn at 3 p.m.
Ham Bagby and the Siege will be performing live music at the event following the football games.
“It’s really good music, it’s a really laid back time and with the weather we’ve been having, it should be awesome,” Carmichael said. “This is one of our favorite events.”
Wilkerson said the event has changed venues a few times but will be back at the Tally-Ho this year and he knows everyone is ready to have a good time.
“It’s beginning to grow and has become almost as fun and popular at the St. Patrick’s Day event,” Carmichael. “It’s something to do and it’s something different.”
The event will be held on the back deck at the Tally-Ho starting at 3 p.m. The event is free, but the oysters will cost depending on the price of a case.
