Morgan rebounds from tough loss and sweeps EMCA

The Morgan Academy Senators volleyball team won in straight sets against East Memorial Christian Academy Wildcats at home Monday afternoon.
After losing to a tough opponent in Clarke Prep last Thursday, the Senators rebounded and easily defeated the Wildcats 25-13, 25-15 and 25-13.
The girls took advantage of getting early leads in each set and didn’t allow the Wildcats any opportunities to make the game close. They were serving aces and setting up kills that EMCA just wasn’t able to handle on a consistent basis.
Tindall Albritton and Maggie Colley were serving the ball well, while Regan Hewitt used her height advantage to score at the net.
Head coach Kayla Thacker had a comfortable enough lead in each set that she was able to give her starters some rest throughout the game. Despite a few errors from the bench, they played well enough to keep the Wildcats at bay and help expand the Senators’ lead.
Morgan has only three games left in the regular season before the region tournament. Currently, they are 4-1 in the area standings with one area match left against Fort Dale at the end of the season.
The Senators defeated Fort Dale in their gym 25-22, 25-11 and 25-12 when the teams met earlier this month.
Morgan will finish the season with three straight home games. The team’s next game will be on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. against Lowndes.
