With cold weather on the way, the Blue Jean Church is working to give warm clothing to the less fortunate.

The church is having a clothing/coat drive giveaway on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1209 Selma Ave.

Lisa Henderson, a member of Blue Jean Church, said the drive is a way church members can meet the needs of people in Selma.

“So many people around Selma don’t have a home or have a shack of a home. We don’t want them to be cold,” Henderson said.

The church is accepting sweaters, coats, long-sleeved shirts, blankets, etc.

The church has been receiving clothing donations throughout the month of November and will continue to accept donations up until Dec. 5.

“The overall goal is to connect with the community, let them know that we are there, and they are welcomed,” Henderson said.

There is a need for more children’s coats for toddlers to preteens.
