Registration for the 2018 Dixie Boys Baseball league has opened this season, but the deadline to sign-up is coming up fast.
The last day to register will be Friday, April 27.
Registration is open for the 13-14-year old league and the 15-18-year old league. Teams will compete throughout the summer, and there is a chance for the top players to be eligible for the All-Star teams that compete in the district and state tournaments.
The 15-18 year old teams will play at Bloch Park, and the 14U teams will play at the Dallas County Sports Complex on AL-219.
Last season, the 15U Selma All-Stars won the Dixie Baseball World Series in Independence, Louisiana.
“We hope that you had fun last year, and we look forward to you participating in the program this year,” Selma Parks and Recreation baseball director Gerald Barron said in a statement. “This program is designed to bring out the best in players.”
In order to register for the league, players will need to fill out a player registration card, a birth certificate or another proof of age document, and the $10 registration fee to the Selma Recreation Department office at Memorial Stadium between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The player’s full name must be spelled out as it appears on their birth certificates. No nicknames or initials will be accepted.
“We had five or six teams last year, so we’d like to at least get that many again this year,” Barron said. “We’re just happy to get started. We look forward to seeing you, and good luck.”
