Bill Powe, age 82, passed away at his home Sunday, April 22, 2018, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Bill was born April 30, 1935 in Kimbrough. After serving in the Army, he was employed for 40 years by the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Oliver Powe and Mary Dunn Powe of Huxford, his daughter, Margaret Powe Boyanton of Pine Hill, his brothers, Thomas Willard Powe of Huxford and James Edwin Powe of Atmore, his sister, Martha Eugenia Gross of McCullough, and nephew, Wesley Kyle Powe of Atmore.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Collins Powe of Miller’s Ferry, sons, William Roy Powe, Jr. and wife, Sandy, of Sweet Water and Willard Oliver Powe, II and wife, Dea, of Browns, grandchildren Kimberly Hope Powe (Nick Henson) of Sweet Water, Willard Oliver (Trey) Powe, III and Carolyn Lea (Carrie Lea) Powe of Browns, great grandchildren, Aiden Alexander Henson and Abbie Raye Henson of Sweet Water, his sister, Frances Marion Powe of Opp, and numerous other family members.
Funeral services will be officiated by the Reverend Tommy Primm of Camden. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday, April 25, at the Dunklin & Daniel’s Funeral Home in Camden. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 26, at 3 p.m., at the Coy Cemetery, in Coy, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Powe, Bud Faucett, John Evarts, Baxter Collins, Brent Collins, Brad Collins, and Ted Boler. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Newman, Billy Collins, Johnny Stabler, Stephen Stabler, Scott Stabler, Meek Primm, and David Primm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
