Selma Country Club hosts 90th Men’s Invitational golf tournament
The Selma Country Club is hosting its 90th annual Men’s Invitational golf tournament this weekend.
Our golf course is 96-years old this year, and it’s extremely rare that a club like ours is still around,” Selma Country Club’s golf pro Tommy Burns said. “We’re holding our own and doing well. For what it’s worth, I think everybody loves Selma, Alabama. A lot of guys that come to this tournament, just love coming to Selma. I guess it’s that southern hospitality.”
The two-day tournament will be this Friday and Saturday at the Selma Country Club golf course. The tournament, which used to be a three-day event, was cut down to two days for the first time this year.
Nonetheless, 60 golfers are already signed up for the tournament and will be split into five flights of 12. There will be a shotgun start each day at 1 p.m.
Burns said that 40 of the entries were from out of town.
The forecast for this weekend predicts sunny weather on both Friday and Saturday with highs in the low to mid-90’s.
