Mutual Savings Credit Union, in an attempt to show their love for the cities they represent, is hosting a community appreciation day for Selma residents on Friday, May 18. The event begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m.
According to Annie Blevins, Selma branch manager for MSCU, there will be prize giveaways, food, drinks, games and more planned for the celebration. In addition, there will be local truck/car dealerships planning on coming out and showing their support. Three radio stations- AlexFM 100.9, 101.5 Kix Country and 96.3 WJAM- are expected to be there as well.
Sarah Gremaud, senior marketing and communication specialist for MSCU, says that in order to assist raising awareness about the event, they teamed up with Kona Ice to offer the first 50 customers free shaved ice.
The company has done these events in the past, including a community appreciation event last month in Clanton. For Gremaud, it is about an opportunity to connect.
However, they connect with more than just the residents, but their employees in the area as well. As she states, members of corporate love these opportunities to meet local members of their organization.
“The branch manager and our Selma employees do such a great job and have such a personal connection with our members, so it is really cool for us at corporate to get a chance to come down,” Gremaud said. “It is nice to see them get a chance to meet some members of our senior management.”
Senior management personnel planned on being at the community appreciation include the Chief Financial Officer and the Vice President of Lending.
Gremaud also added that the events have increased in popularity, with this being the third event in the past two years.
“These keep getting bigger and better, and its been great,” Gremaud said. “It gives us a chance to connect to the community.”
