The seventh annual “Jazz on the Grazz” will kick-off Selma’s “One Hot Summer” series.
This year, the free event will be June 16 from Noon until 10 p.m. at Phoenix Park located at 1207 Water Ave. in Selma.
Aside from jazz, the community and family friendly event will include food, vendors and fun for the children.
Vendors will be selling a variety of items including art, accessories and food.
Children will have the opportunity to enjoy the Kids Corner equipped with a water slide and a train.
Even with all the fun, the event would not be complete without an opportunity to serve the community. Setup for the recycling contest begins at 11 a.m. and the contest will end around 1 p.m.
The Selma Fire Department’s mascot Sparky and Mainstreet Urgent Care’s mascot, Dr. Wags, will dance it out in a dance off at 2:30 p.m.
Showtime will be around 3:30 p.m. as the live jazz portion of the event will start with an opening by blues perfomers.
The line- up will include Timeria “Tee-Tee” Baker, Natasha “T-Honey” Brown, Harmonicist Jock Webb, Coolbone Brass Band, Saxophonist Deitrick Lawson, Grammy nominated Reggie Hine and Jeremy Flyy & Flight.
If the jazz, vendors and food is not enough, attendees cam head down the street after the event to Organpi Farmhouse. The restaurant will have more fun in store for the night with live music, wing specials, drinks and cigars on the river.
For more information on becoming a vendor email councilsecretary@selma-al.gov or pick up an application form from city hall or a committee member.
