Selma Art Guild to hold Juried Art Show

The Selma Art Guild will hold their opening reception for their Summer Juried Art Show on Sunday, June 10 from 2-4 p.m.
The event will be at the guild located at 508 Selma Ave. in Selma.
This is an annual event that draws artists from Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma and the surrounding areas.
This year, the guild have over 70 works of art to be juried by Montgomery and educator Jim Gunter.
Gunter is a secondary educator and artist.
He was a teacher of Art at Goodwyn Junior High School from 1975-1989, department head of the art department at Baldwin Magnet School from 1989-2004 and has been at Saint James High School in Montgomery since 2004.
He has been represented in permanent collections at the Wiregrass Museum in Dothan, Cheaha Museum in Talladega, Fort Waldon Museum in Fort Waldon, Florida, the Retirement Museums of Alabama in Montgomery, Alabama Bar Association, Alabama Children’s Trust Fund, Kansas Children’s’ Trust Fund, Corporation Foundation of Children in Montgomery, Montgomery County Health Department and Regions Bank.
His exhibitions include the Montgomery Museum in 2000; Vermilion Gallery in Atlanta in 2001; Sanford University in Birmingham and the LBW Junior College in Andalusia.
He is a member of the Southeastern Pastel Society and was awarded the Member of Excellence award in 1996.
