Senior Citizens will have a chance to strut their stuff at the Selma City Council’s Senior Citizens Fashion Show. The free show will be on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center. All models must be 55 or older to participate.
The deadline to sign up to model in the show is Friday, Aug. 24.
Event organizer and Councilman Samuel Randolph said they are still accepting models for the upcoming show.
“We’re looking for about 60 models,” he said. “We never get any senior men, so we’re looking for senior men to model as well.”
Community support is also an essential part of the event. Randolph said he wants the citizens of Selma to see what the seniors have to offer.
“We’re asking everyone to just come out and support the senior citizens,” he said. “You don’t have to buy any clothes just wear your Sunday best.”
This event, much like the Senior Prom hosted by Randolph, is another effort to allow the senior citizens of Selma and Dallas County to live a full life.
“It’s just to give the seniors something to do and let them know that you can have fun as a senior,” Randolph said.
Even though a lot of seniors will be modeling their Sunday best, Randolph said local clothing businesses can pitch in and participate as well.
“If there are any businesses that would like the senior citizens to model their clothes they can contact us as well,” he said.
