Iron Fittness celebrated its third anniversary on Saturday morning at Bloch Park with a Boot Camp workout.

Thirty people attended the two-hour event that started at 6:30 a.m. It featured Zumba, pound fitness, kickboxing, boot camp and CrossFit style workouts, as well as promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Lewis, who’s also a welding instructor at Wallace Community College-Selma, said the anniversary was more of a celebration. He was proud of the participants who showed up.

“I was pleased with the turnout,” Iron Fittness owner Jarrin Lewis said. “It’s very important to feel good and looking well at the same time. You always want to be in some kind of shape, whether you have kids or you’re doing it for yourself.”

Shedric Sneed said it was important to come out and support Lewis, who instructs a Total Toning Class at the YMCA.

DeDe Inge and Sharmanita Walker, who both work with The Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), both are grateful to Lewis’ dedication to Iron Fittness.

Inge is a director at AMSTI, while Walker teaches Kindergarten – second-grade in science.

“This is healthy and it jumpstarts your day to have a good workout,” Walker said. “We appreciate Jarrin and his time devoted to this.”

“The benefits have been great. Being fit is what we’re trying to do,” said Inge.
