The 917 Venue, located at 14575 Al Hwy 22 in Orrville, will have its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. The venue, formerly a hair salon, is now a rental property where local residents can reserve the space for events.

The grand opening will be a sip and paint theme with live music, food and wine.

Owner, Kamilah Smith, said after moving away to Mobile she decided to reopen the location.

“I purchased the building back in 2001 and opened it up as a hair salon and supply store, Millshair Beauty and Barber,” she said. “After the building was sitting for so long in downtown Orrville, I decided to bring something else to the community.”

Even with living two and a half hours away, Smith and her husband Robert believed that opening a rental property wouldn’t be a big strain.

After renovations, the 1,900-square-feet building is now available for bookings. Smith said the venue can be rented for various occasions, including but not limited to, baby showers, small wedding receptions and birthday parties.

The reservation fee is $300 with a $50 deposit.  Additional rentals are two gold throne chairs or two silver throne chairs for $80 each or $150 for a pair.
