The Selma and Dallas County Public Library will host its fall season of Lunch at the Library series on Sept. 13 at noon.

This event is in partnership with the Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities in Auburn.

Dr. Wayne Flynt will present the book, “Alabama: The History of a Deep South State Bicentennial Edition.”

“Wayne Flynt was born in Mississippi and grew up in Dothan and Anniston, he is a Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at Auburn University,” Becky Nichols, executive director of the Selma and Dallas County Library, said in a release. “He is the author of 13 books, and one of the most recognized and honored scholars of southern history, politics and religion.”

“Alabama: The History of a Deep South State Bicentennial Edition” is divided into three sections.

“Each section was written by a scholar who has devoted much of his or her professional life to the study of that period of Alabama’s past, and although the three sections reflect individual style and interpretation, the authors have collaborated closely on overall themes and organization,” Nichols said in a release.

The lunch portion will begin at noon and the program will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Lunch is $8 per person.

Flynt will sell and autograph books before and after the event.
