A Selma resident known as the Spiderman was sentenced on two counts of robbery Wednesday in the Dallas County Courthouse.
Eric Bernard Robinson Jr., 32, was sentenced on two counts of first-degree robbery, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.
Robinson received a 20-year split sentence of 20 years suspending to serving five years in prison and another five years of probation afterward by Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Collins Pettaway.
The two crimes occurred in June, 2013 on Highland Avenue. Then-Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley referred to Robinson as “the Spiderman bandit.”
The first incident happened on June 3, 2013 in the robbery of a ABC store off Highland Avenue.
On June 7, 2013, an eye witness, Eric Simpson, told Selma Police Detectives he saw an unknown black male dressed in black sweat pants and pulled down a spiderman mask to cover his face and entered the Save-A-Lot store on Highland Avenue with a handgun.
Based on the evidence and probable cause developed in the case, Robinson was charged with first-degree robbery and third degree receiving stolen property. Bond was set at $250,000.
“It looks like only prison can hold a spider,” Jackson said.
