Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Zeta Eta Omega Chapter is gearing up for its Impact Day on Monday, Oct. 1.
The organization will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar at the Ivy and Pearl Service Center, located at 515 Bell Road.
Event chair Edna Montgomery said the seminar serves as a way for the organization to support the community through their Impact Day.
“Impact Day is a day in which the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. strive to make a difference a specific subject area,” she said. “It’s a day that the sorority as a whole wishes to make an impact on an issue that is of concern in the community and all around.”
The seminar will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Dr. William Stevens will serve as the featured speaker for the event.
“Dr. William Stevens will discuss breast cancer awareness and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment,” Montgomery said.
According to Montgomery, the seminar is important because it affects the community.
“It is very important to have a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar because of the prevalence of breast cancer in our community and nationwide,” she said.
