Aris Stevens was named the 2018 Central Alabama Fair queen on Saturday at the fairgrounds.
Natalie Massey, last year’s pageant queen, placed the crown on Stevens’ head to close out the ceremony.
Stevens, 17, a senior at Morgan Academy, has competed in pageants over the last six years, including four at the fair.
“I placed in this pageant every year and I finally won it,” Stevens said. “I love doing these pageants.”
Stevens will be in the Christmas parade this year and represent the Lions Club in other capacities.
After graduating from Morgan Academy, Stevens said she plans to attend the University of South Alabama and major in criminal justice.
Rachel Breland, a junior at Dallas County High School, was the runner-up. Breland, 16, was junior miss at last year’s pageant.
“It was exciting to compete in the pageant again,” Breland said. “It was very nerve wracking. I feel very proud of myself.”
Peytan Ellen Granthum, a 17-year-old-senior at Morgan Academy, was named Miss Photogenic. The co-head cheerleader at Morgan Academy plans to attend Auburn University and major in neo-nursing. She is the daughter of Dallas County Sheriff-elect Mike Granthum.
“I was real excited to get the honor,” Granthum said. “This was my first pageant and I did it for the experience. I had fun.”
