LaToya Jones-McCall has a joy for teaching.

Being a Pre-K teacher in all subject areas for the past 19 years is how she has served at Byrd First Class Early Learning Center in the Selma City Schools system.

“As a teacher, seeing the smiles of the children each day brings joy,” she said. “The ‘aha’ moments when a child gets something for the first time and being able to witness their social and academic growth makes teaching enjoyable and exciting.”

The Lowndes County native is an active member of the New Hope Christian Church and also tutors students in the Lowndes County community.

When she is not teaching future leaders, she enjoys traveling, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
