A Selma resident pleaded guilty on Wednesday to shooting into an occupied vehicle, reckless endangerment and carrying a pistol without a license that occurred four years ago.

Wesley Washington, 24, received two 10-year sentences to run concurrent by Circuit Court Judge Marvin Wiggins at the Dallas County Courthouse. The preliminary hearing took place in Wiggins’ courtroom.

This is from an incident that occurred on Sept. 1, 2014 on the 1200 block of Alabama Avenue, according to the Selma Police Department (SPD).

“We’ve gotten another gunslinger off the streets,” Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said.

This isn’t Washington’s first brush with the law. Washington is also connected to the June 24 murder of Breana Williams, 36, and the attempted murder of her son, Dejour Edward, 17. The shooting occurred on the 400 Block of Young Street, according to Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier.

In that case, Jackson said Washington is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and those charges are still pending.
