Who will win? – Both Senate District 23 candidates have good ideas

Today, you read about the two candidates who are working for your vote on Nov. 6 to be the next District 23 Senator.
Sometimes in an election, there are ways to tell who will be the winner, sometimes really early on, but this one is anybody’s election to win.
On one hand, you have Malika Sanders-Fortier running as the Democrat candidate.
Fortier’s family legacy alone will put her in an advantage in The Statehouse, and her ideas are her own ideas despite what some may say about her alleged entitlement from her father, the current District 23 Sen. Hank Sanders.
Fortier has a vision for the district, and she sees potential instead of setbacks. She has a passion to serve her community and surrounding areas in the best way possible.
“I believe the Lord called me to do this,” Fortier said. “I bring fresh leadership that can build on and learn from the past. I’m starting at a place where I have relationships with some state legislators who are already in office. As a child, I’ve always served in the community because I care about people. It’s another way of helping people.”
The other choice, Mark Story, the Independent candidate has an array of leadership positions under his belt from military to being chairman of The Dallas County School Board,
Story ’s claims to be a Senator that will look out for the people is admirable, and wanting to catch the district up with the rest of the state should be a top priority.
“We need a Senator that will look out for all of the people and will seek ways to better this district,” Story said. “For too long the counties of District 23 have lagged behind the rest of the state. According to numbers provided by the Bureau of Economic Analysis for 1983 – 2016, the average growth rate of wage and salaries of the District 23 counties has increased at a rate 29 percent less than the state wide average.”
It all comes down to your vote on Nov. 6.
One of these candidates will represent you in the Statehouse and will be in charge of what happens in our communities.
The choice is yours.
