The eighth annual Sturdivant Hall’s Artisans’ Fair will be on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is free and free parking is available in the new parking lot across from the back of the Sturdivant property on Union Street and in the parking lot behind the house.
“This is just in time for buying Christmas gifts and Thanksgiving baked goods,” according to a press release. “This event is anticipated every year, and this year’s event will be the best ever with many vendors returning and new ones added. Premier artists and craftspeople will be on hand selling their work and creativity will abound.”
The Tally-Ho Street Kitchen Food Truck also will be at the event.
“Vendors include those selling handcrafted jewelry, pottery, soaps and hand creams, paintings, Christmas ornaments, jellies, candy, breads, desserts and more,” according to the press release.
The Sturdivant Hall Museum Shop also will be open and offer a large variety of items.
“Seven years ago, Patty Debardeleben had an idea to bring artists together with their creations and invite the public to come to Sturdivant Hall where they would have an opportunity to do a little Christmas shopping,” said Peggy Allison, a Sturdivant Hall board member and chair of the event. “That idea has led to Sturdivant’s Eight Annual Artisans’ Fair.
“We have quite a line up this year, which includes artists from previous years and some new ones,” she said. “Edie Delp will be back with her exquisite handmade jewelry. We have paintings by talented artists Karen Weir, Anne Strand and Porter Rivers. Jo Taylor will offer wonderful ceramic items … we can’t wait to see what she will bring.”
Allison said in the Robinson Building, Joyce Rylee will have Thanksgiving dressing, green bean and sweet potato casseroles and cheese straws available.
“Carla Schuerman will be on hand with her wonderful baked breads and Denis Rushton with her jams and jellies,” said Allison. “We feel very proud that Sturdivant is able to offer this event each year for the community. Not only is it a fun event, but people are reminded of what a treasure Sturdivant Hall is to our community.”
