One year later – Barnes passes milestone with business anniversary

On Tuesday, Henley Barnes celebrated a year in business with The Shops at Harper’s Chapel in Valley Grande.
The shop currently sells a variety of items, including men’s and women’s clothing, gift items, jewelry, candles and more. The store recently opened what Barnes calls a “man cave,” an extended section in the back of the shop to offer more selections for men.
The first year of owning a business is one of the toughest times.
Jacob Warwick, the CEO and Founder of ThinkWarwick Communications wrote on entrepreneur.com about the stress included in running a business.
“Launching a business, assessing market opportunities, aligning the right team and figuring out how to execute properly is challenging enough; add the fear of the unknown and financial insecurity, and you have a recipe for a heap of stress,” he wrote. “While many people can handle this on their own when these stressors are not thoughtfully communicated with the people in your life that you care most about, another level of stress can overshadow your ventures and adversely impact your performance.”
We are sure that Barnes experienced stress and uncertainty during her first year in business, but to push through and celebrate a year is a big victory in the business world.
This is more so important in the Dallas County area where industry and retail is something to be desired.
We wish Barnes a happy business anniversary and wish her many more.
The Shops at Harper’s Chapel will be holding an open house on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
The shop is located at 13055 AL Hwy. 14 in Valley Grande.
