On Giving Tuesday, a day during the holiday season dedicated to giving rather than buying, Billy Young of the group 100 Black Men Selma, Inc. presented the R.B Hudson Middle School Robotics Team with a $250 donation.
Young said the money would be used to purchase a drone for the team and that his group plans to make another donation before the upcoming holiday break.
The Robotics Team has been active lately, having just returned from a visit to the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center and currently preparing for an upcoming competition, and Young said that it’s important for the students to know that the community supports their work.
Young added that the team is always accepting donations to go toward purchasing new equipment to further its studies in robotics, engineering and technology.
The team is also trying to raise funds to take part in the Disney YES Program, which will send students to Orlando to take part in hands-on experiments. The cost per student is $700.
