Holiday schedule announced for New Year’s Day

Several businesses will be closed for New Year’s Day.
The Dallas County Courthouse will be closed Monday, Dec. 31 through Tuesday, Jan. 2 and reopens at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3.
City of Selma offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1 and reopens at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2.
All normal trash pickup schedules will resume on Monday, Dec. 31, but the public works department is closed Tuesday, Jan. 1. A public works official said residents who usually get their trash picked up on Tuesday will take place later in the week.
The Dallas County Tax Assessor, collector and Recorder’s offices will be open regular hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31.
Dallas County Tax Assessor Weida Sheehan said the deadline to turn in property taxes and file an exemption for property taxes is Monday, Dec. 31.
On Jan.1 all residents who have not paid will be filed as delinquents and must pay a fee. An official from the collector’s office said they won’t know what the penalty is until the time comes to see who’s late paying.
The Selma Dallas County library will be closed Monday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 1, but reopens on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 9 a.m.
