A Selma resident pled guilty to first-degree rape in a three-year-old case on Tuesday at the Dallas County Courthouse.

Tyrone Campbell, 49, will be sentenced by Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Don McMillian after a pre-sentence investigation and report over the next several months, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.

According to the incident report, the crime occurred on Oct. 30, 2015 when Campbell engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with a female victim. The victim told her mom that Campbell took her in one of the back rooms of the house and had sex with her.

Evidence was collected at the time of the original report and that the Department of Forensic Science (DFS) determined the evidence belonged to Campbell, who admitted to having intercourse with the victim. According to The Selma Times-Journal’s incident reports, Campbell was arrested on Feb. 8, 2016.

“We are going to keep sending these sexual predators off,” Jackson said.
