Stiles excels as Dallas County EMA

Toya Stiles enjoys her job as Dallas County Emergency Management Agency Director.
Stiles has served as EMA Director for the last three years and she wears several hats in that position.
“I respond to train derailments, 18-wheeler accidents, determining flood zones, planning exercises, drills, tabletops, trainings,” Stiles said. “I speak at public functions, open and close storm shelters. I also respond to any potential weather that we may have, testing sirens or setting sirens off whenever we expect bad weather.”
Stiles also coordinated Dallas County’s 10th Annual Be Ready Day on Sept. 26, 2018 at Bloch Park. She organized several local and regional first responders to participate and talk to several local elementary and middle schools in the area about safety.
Stiles has an Intermediate Certification and Advanced Certification in Emergency Management. She recently received her Certified Local Emergency Manager (CLEM) certification.
“I like the working relationship I have with other agencies, just being able to call on them when I need them,” Stiles said.
Stiles is from the area. She is a 1997 graduate of Southside High School, received an associate’s degree at Wallace Community College-Selma and a bachelor’s degree from Concordia College-Alabama.
