Two people were injured after a shooting incident on Monday night.
Selma Police Department (SPD) Chief Spencer Collier said officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. to the 2400 block of Eugene Avenue.
“Upon arrival, a victim was discovered to have been shot multiple times in the lower body,” said Collier. “The victim, Eddie Jackson, 22 of Selma, was transported to an undisclosed hospital.”
Collier said there also was a second victim who “refused to cooperate, but we know he was not shot with Jackson.”
“We will continue to investigate,” Collier said. “It’s possible that the second victim was shot in the gunfire in a second apartment.
“The initial investigation indicates that Jackson went to the door of his apartment and opened it to the outside,” said Collier. “As he stepped out, he was ambushed by at least two subjects and shot multiple times.”
Collier said Selma CID has been assigned to the case.
“At this point, we don’t have any suspects or motive,” he said. “CID will continue to canvas in an attempt to locate witnesses.”
Collier stated that he expects the victim to survive his injuries.
