Southside’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Course (JROTC) was recently honored with the Governor’s Award for the Adopt-A-Mile program by Alabama People Against a Littered State (PALS).
The JROTC’s continuous effort to pick up litter along County Road 69 and County Road 465 has placed them in statewide prominence with the PALS’ award.
There are so many opportunities that the JROTC brings to a student.
Apart from the discipline and the hard work it teaches, it also puts you in front of others in applying for colleges.
The blog College Vine explains that “JROTC also helps you improve your physical fitness and learn practical military-related skills. Cadets, as they’re referred to in JROTC, have the opportunity to develop these skills through participating in certain extracurricular activities or competitions between different units in skills like drills, orienteering, and marksmanship. You may also have the opportunity to earn special awards and join honor societies. If you choose to pursue a military career, you may also be able to earn or start at a higher rank.”
JROTC is a nationally known and well-respected organization, and these students should be proud of the work they have done.
These students have set the example of what it means to get things happening in our county.
Cleaning up Dallas County has always been a priority but there are few who actually follow through with it.
