The Selma Housing Authority (SHA) basketball team won the 2019 SERC MLK Tournament in Laurel, Mississippi last weekend.
The SHA squad finished first in the 12 and under age group, which SHA Executive Director Kennard Randolph said is a huge accomplishment.
Randolph said the three-hour trip to the Magnolia state was also used as a learning experience for the players on MLK weekend.
“Our young men had the opportunity to attend a banquet and visit the Lauren Rogers Museum of Arts while in Laurel,” Randolph said. “It is our duty to get our youth residents involved in extracurricular activities and educational literacy to enlighten their minds and help them prosper as individuals. We want them to know we care, we are invested in them, and that they can achieve greatness.”
