Blackbelt Benefit Group hosts it’s annual Alabama River Chili Cook-off on Thursday, March 14.
BBG has hosted the cook-off for the past five years after inheriting it from the Dallas County Leadership Class.
“It’s a great family-friendly event,” said BBG Co-founder and Secretary Clay Carmichael. “It’s a very diverse group, we usually have about 20-30 teams enter every year. A lot of local churches, groups and businesses get in on the fun.”
According to Carmichael, Henry Brick Co. is the team to beat.
“They’ve won for the last two or three years,” he added.
This year’s chili cook-off will be held along historic Water Avenue.
The gates open at 5 p.m. and entry is $5.
