Accident on Hwy. 80

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) responded to an accident at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning when a 2003 Ford F-150 hit a power pole, breaking it in two, on the median of U.S. Highway 80 near mile marker 85.

The Ford, driven by Leon Givan, of Selma, was not injured, but the passenger in the vehicle, Doiren Givan, was injured in the accident.

Givan’s exact condition could not be released.

A second vehicle, a 99 Chevy Silverado driven by James Deason, of Selma, was also involved in the accident.

Deason received no injuries.

Exactly how the accident occurred could not be released, ALEA continues to handle the investigation.
