On St. Patrick’s Day, Tally-Ho took the holiday in a generous direction raising money for the Child Advocacy Center in Selma.
A children’s advocacy center is the one place that provides a safe, child-friendly environment where law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical and mental health professionals may share information and develop effective, coordinated strategies sensitive to the needs of each unique case and child.
The facility is used for forensic interviews, medical exams, therapy, case reviews, community education and prevention.
This organization needs all the help it can get.
According to the advocacy center’s site, a child is abused or neglected every 47 seconds in the United States, more than 3 million children are subjects of at least one child abuse each year and in 2013, it was estimated that more than 1,500 children died from abuse or neglect.
This organization has a lot to work against in terms of abusers and statistics, but with fundraisers like the one that Tally-Ho hosted they are on their way to getting the resources they need to help save children from abuse.
