Selma’s third annual Night of Hope is scheduled to take place Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at Bloch Park.

Selma City Councilwoman Miah Jackson developed the event with Selma City Council President Corey Bowie to provide the community with a night of encouragement and fellowship.

Night of hope is a free event that provides a safe and family friendly environment, where children can play and everyone can hear an uplifting message from this year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Christine Nelson.

Wednesday marks Nelson’s second time being the event’s keynote speaker, she was also the speaker at last year’s event.

Nelson is a teacher, minister, author and prophet and has a special message to deliver to Selma Wednesday evening.

Jackson said that she encourages everyone who can to come out to the event.

This is about spending time with one another,” she said. “This event gives us an opportunity to bring down the fences and defenses that divide us as a community.”

The event is free for all to attend and there will be Domino’s pizza, popcorn and drinks provided by Pepsi.
