Student skips Spring Break to fund raise

A local School of Discovery student skipped Spring Break in order to raise money of March of Dimes.
After School of Discovery’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter only raised $500 of their $1000 goal, Alonziahrose Jones singlehandedly tried to raise the remaining $500 while many of her classmates were relaxing and vacationing over Spring Break.
After the school didn’t quite raise enough money, Jones told her mother she’d like to spend Spring Break fundraising.
“I mean, what kid would do that?” said Nevaeh Jones, Alonziahrose’s mother.
Alonziahrose Jones took it upon herself to attempt to raise the money, citing her FBLA Advisor as her inspiration.
“I really wanted to make my advisor proud of our chapter,” she said.
Though Jones didn’t quite raise the remaining $500 needed to reach the $1,000 goal, she did manage to raise $290 thanks to donations from members of the community including Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, District Attorney Michael Jackson and Dallas County Sheriff Mike Grantham.
Though the School of Discovery did not meet its goal, Alonziahrose Jones was still recognized for her efforts.
She delivered a PowerPoint presentation at the March of Dimes conference in Birmingham.
