The top two AISA baseball teams will meet on Thursday afternoon in Selma.
Top-ranked Morgan Academy (25-0) hosts No. 2 Autauga Academy on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Both highly-touted teams are in different classes in the AISA and earned first-round playoff byes until April 25. The Senators are in Class AAA, while Autauga Academy competes in Class AA.
Morgan Academy coach Stephen Clements said the contest against the Generals (35-8) will be a strong test for the unbeaten Senators.
“I think this is a great challenge for our guys,” Clements said. “Autauga has a great program and they are well coached. This should be a great opportunity to see some good pitching and have some quality at-bats leading into the state playoffs.”
Morgan Academy has been impressive all season long and the state took notice during spring break last month by winning the Gulf Shores Tournament on the Gulf Coast.
The Senators’ lineup from top to bottom is solid, led by their three Auburn University signees: Gunnar Henderson, Brayton Brown and David Ducote.
Jeremy Lee, Dione Allen, Xavier Green, Joseph Estes, Milam Turner and Matthew Davis have also played well for the Senators.
The Generals, coached by Scott Tubbs, are led by junior second baseman Tyson Tubbs and junior pitcher Tyrin Long.
