On Tuesday morning Selma institution Lannie’s Bar-B-Q joined the list of recipients of the Hope Builder Award from the Drug Free Communities of Dallas County.
Twelve runners up for the award were also recognized, but Lannie’s Bar-B-Q was the unanimous pick from the Drug Free Communities of Dallas County.
Drug Free Communities of Dallas County Executive Director Jerria Martin payed a visit to both Lannie’s Bar-B-Q Spot on Minter Avenue and Lannie’s Bar-B-Q on Medical Center Parkway to deliver the prestigious Hope Builder Award.
The award is the highest honor given by the organization and awarded annually to one local business that is completely drug and substance free
“Our Hope Builders Award is the highest achievement for the Hope Dealers with Drug Free Communities of Dallas County,” said Martin.
According to Martin, Lannie’s was chosen by the committee because it is a place that provides hope to the community and offers a family friendly atmosphere free of drugs and alcohol.
“It’s always great to recognize the people and the businesses that bring hope to our city,” said Martin.
The Lannie’s Bar-B-Q family was overjoyed to be this year’s recipient of the award.
“It means a lot to us,” said Earl Travis, owner of Lannie’s Bar-B-Q. “We appreciate the recognition.”
