Eight Chanticleer Apartment units were horribly damaged by a fire on Tuesday night, according to standing Selma Fire Department (SFD).

According to Graham, no injuries were reported at the time that the fire was considered under control.

While the fire was still being put out, the community took to social media asking for donations that could be collected for the displaced families.

Along with independent donations, the Selma City Council also reached out to Edmundite Missions CEO Chad McEachern for help.

“When a tragedy like this happens in our community, people in the city know they can call the Missions and that we will respond,” McEachern said. “For us, this isn’t about one night’s worth of comfort or consolation.”

While it is unfortunate that the tragedy happened, it is inspiring to see all of the people who have come together almost immediately to help the displaced families during their time of need.

There may be disagreements between us, and there are times where we don’t even like each other.

However, it is safe to say that during rough times, we will all come together to help our fellow neighbors.
