Selma High School (SHS) was placed under lockdown Tuesday afternoon.
Selma Police Department (SPD) Chief Spencer Collier said the department found a video posted on Facebook by Zaykeese Johnson, 19 of Selma, who was holding a rifle and claiming that he would “shoot” certain students at Selma High School.
School Resource Officers were alerted and members of the SPD responded to the school.
Collier said Johnson was not a student but did have a sibling who was allegedly being bullied by other students at the high school.
Collier said Johnson claimed the threats were aimed at those students who allegedly bullied his sibling.
“Fortunately, this particular threat was discovered and resolved without incident or injury to anyone,” said Collier. “However, in today’s society, any intelligence, information or suggestion of an active shooter event must be taken seriously.”
Johnson was taken into custody and charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a Class C felony in Alabama. Johnson was processed and booked into the Dallas County Jail and is currently being held without bond.
