Valley Grande approved five resolutions at its Council Meeting on Monday at Valley Grande City Hall.

The council first approved Resolution 2019-96, Economic Development Grant, which the city has potential for commercial development and needed to make application for grant funds through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to assist in providing infrastructure. The council authorizes Mayor Matt Dobbs to begin the process of completing an application for CDBG funds to assist in funding these improvements.

The council also approved Resolution 2019-97, awarding a bid for lawn maintenance of $24,300 to Ronnie Terry Lawn Service. The one-year agreement begins June 4 and ends on May 31, 2020.

Resolution 2019-98 awarded a $11,900 bid for roadside litter and debris removal to Alabama Teen Challenge.  The one-year agreement begins June 4 and ends on May 31, 2020.

Resolution 2019-99 changes a few rules at the Radio Controlled Airplane Park that’s adjacent to the Valley Grande Sports Complex.

Resolution 2019-100 is for professional services, which the city plans on applying to grant programs, including the CDGP from the Alabama Development of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) set forth in Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.

The city can enter an agreement with Hogg Stones & Associates Engineers, Inc. for professional engineering design and construction observation services, upon official award of the projects. The city also prefers to use the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission, a regional planning and development commission to administer the projects if funded.

The next Valley Grande Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall.
