This mission was considered a turning point in World War II, and the campaign was said to have helped shape America and the world ever since.

World leaders gathered Wednesday to commemorate the battle during a ceremony at the British naval base in Portsmouth, England.

Queen Elizabeth II spoke about the event saying that D-Day “reminds us all of that our countries have achieved together. After the shared sacrifices of the Second World War, Britain and the United States worked with other allies to build an assembly of international institutions, to ensure that the horrors of conflict would never be repeated. While the world has changed, we are forever mindful of the original purpose of these structures: nations working together to safeguard a hard-won peace.”

Let us not forget the bonds that were formed because of this act globally.

It is events such as this that show what can be accomplished when powers come together.

The same thing can be said on a local level.

Think of the accomplishments that have been made through the power of working together.

Let us not forget the powerful moment that D-Day was and the lessons that we learned from it.
