A Selma resident was sentenced to 15 years in prison from a three-year-old rape case Friday in the Dallas County Courthouse.
Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Don McMillian sentenced Tyrone Campbell after a pre-sentence investigation and report, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.
Campbell, 49, pled guilty to first-degree sodomy.
“We are going to keep shipping these sexual predators off,” Jackson said.
According to the incident report, the crime occurred on Oct. 30, 2015 when Campbell engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with a female victim. The victim told her mom that Campbell took her in one of the back rooms of the house and had sex with her.
Evidence was collected at the time of the original report and that the Department of Forensic Science (DFS) determined the evidence belonged to Campbell, who admitted to having intercourse with the victim. According to The Selma Times-Journal’s incident reports, Campbell was arrested on Feb. 8, 2016.
