Selma’s first Empower Music Festival concluded on Saturday, July 6. The three-day event, created by MJ 93 – 90 Foundation Founder Michael Johnson, featured music, food and family activities for local residents looking for something to do during the holiday weekend.
The highlight of the festivities on Saturday was the car show that took place along Water Avenue near Phoenix Park.
Participants brought a variety of freshly detailed automobiles to show off to the festival goers and spent the morning in the shade, discussing their vehicles and staying out of the hot July sun.
Later in the day, the Empower Music Festival collided with the regularly scheduled First Saturday Selma activities featuring three food trucks including Tally Ho Street Kitchen, Kona Ice and Drive-By Tacos.
Saturday’s live music included a choir from International Mission Jesus who performed praise songs, creating an uplifting environment to conclude the weekend festivities.
